ABOUT ME

John lives with his wife Candis and furry companions, in the beautiful village of Ajijic, Jalisco, Mexico. Raised in both Canada and the United States. In 1963 at 17 he joined the USAF where he began writing poetry while stationed in Alaska.  Four years later he moved to Texas. There he spent 15 years living and working at various jobs throughout the state: bartending, disc jockey, bookstore owner, actor, culminating in graduating with a degree in Creative Writing from the University of Texas at El Paso. 

 

Following multiple careers in Canada, the U.S., and Mexico as an entrepreneur, consultant and teacher; semi-retired he received Special Education Certification in Western Massachusetts at age age 65. He taught for several years before he and his wife Candis moved to Mexico to permanently retire and focus on his writing. His writing career has spanned over 50 years, publishing 9 books of poetry and essays that explore relationships, spirituality, creativity, aging, and his romance with life. A Long Way from Nowhere was his first novel set in Texas in 1968-69. Aging Beautifully in Light of You his second novel sequenced and inspired by a companion book of Poetry.
