John Thomas Dodds, born in the United States, he was raised in Canada and embarked on an educational journey in 1968. He enrolled at the University of Texas at El Paso, leveraging the GI Bill following his honorable four-year service in the USAF as a law clerk and court reporter. Demonstrating resilience and resourcefulness, John worked his way through college by assuming diverse roles, including substitute teaching in an elementary border school, serving as a disc jockey, and tending bar. Ultimately, he graduated with distinction, attaining majors in Creative Writing and Drama.

In the ensuing two decades, John's adventurous spirit led him to traverse the vast expanse of the United States multiple times, hitchhiking his way through various regions. During this nomadic period, he pursued an array of career paths, working for two major book chains, as well as owning and operating his own bookstore. He has been employed as a business consultant in the Maquiladoras on the U.S./Mexican border and developed Internet training labs for the Canadian Government and Metis Council, spearheading the development of Internet training labs. These diverse experiences endowed him with a multifaceted perspective on society and its intricacies.

Dedicated to empowering individuals and communities, John later assumed the role of a compassionate counselor, specializing in teaching and creating job readiness programs for esteemed community colleges and non-profit organizations. His commitment to nurturing personal growth and fostering vocational preparedness made a positive impact on countless lives. Eventually, John found himself in Massachusetts, where he embraced a semi-retirement phase as the Vocation Coordinator for a renowned residential treatment center catering to troubled teenagers and young adults diagnosed with Autism spectrum disorders. At the ripe age of 65, he obtained a Special Education Teacher’s license and taught Special Needs students, grades 9 through 12, in a High School in the Berkshires.

Beyond his professional pursuits, John's passion for self-expression found solace in the realm of poetry. Through his introspective verses, he explores profound themes encompassing relationships, spirituality, creativity, and the wonders of existence. Recognizing the transformative power of his words, John self-published an impressive collection of 15 volumes, showcasing his poetic prowess on prominent platforms such as Lulu, Amazon, Kindle, and D2D Print. His repertoire includes two enchanting children's books composed in verse, namely "A Sneaky Twitch of an Itch" and "The Journey Home," as well as a poignant compilation of essays and poetry centered around the subject of aging, titled "Comes A Time of No Return."

Presently residing in the tranquil village of Ajijic in Jalisco, Mexico, John shares his life with his beloved wife, Candis, and a cherished clowder of furry companions. Under the pen name J.T. Dodds, he has meticulously crafted five captivating novels, exemplifying his literary talent and narrative finesse. Notable among these works is the compelling trilogy "To Each Their Own Goodbye," consisting of Book 1: "Anywhere Except Yesterday," Book 2: "A Long Way From Nowhere," and Book 3: "When Tomorrow Is Never Enough." Additionally, John has penned a standalone novel titled "If You Are Born To Be A Tamale," while his forthcoming publication, "Wanting To Breathe Here In," a romance for the ageless, is pending publication.
